78 out of 100 Senators, spearheaded by Christopher Dodd and recently converted Democrat Senator Arlen Specter, along with Republicans Thune and Isakson (son of Isaac) wrote what could be considered an open letter to President Obama, reminding him of the long history of friendship and loyalty among the Nations of Israel and the United States.
In the letter, the Senators emphasize that as mediators in the conflict between Israel and Palestine, the United States needs to remember to press Palestine to completely eradicate terrorism, and while mediating and attempting to get a Palestinian State, to at the same time think and ensure Israel’s safety.
I think it is important to remember how our President has been seen attending dinners along with his wife in which the key note speaker insisted in bashing Israel. We should also remember that some of his friends are well known anti Israel, just as much as anti American. It is good to see both sides of the aisle cooperating at least in theory in reminding our President that Israel is our only real allied in the region.
