Are we living in an alternate reality or…? Never mind; our politicians have taken leave of their senses. The White House now wants to provide the Muslim world with a competitive technological advantage. The U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) called for proposals of projects that would advance economic opportunity and create jobs in areas like technology, education, telecoms, media, business services and clean technology, but not in America, but in Muslim Nations.
They want to provide financing of between 25 and 150 million dollars for selected projects and funds.
In his speech to the Muslim world in Cairo last June, Obama argued that "education and innovation will be the currency of the 21st century" and that under-investment was rife in many Muslim nations.
He was right, but the reason investment is not as prevalent in the Muslim world is a simple proposition. They treat their women like dirt, if you don’t believe the same way they do, their fundamentalist will literally kill you. In Basrah, Iraq, they were cutting the hands of women who dared to wear a colorful scarf, and in some areas they were throwing acid to the faces of little girls who dared to go to school.
When freedom is not the fundamental characteristic of a society, not everybody will expose their fortune or talents in a place where kidnappings and torture are par for the course.
The White House spent Billions of dollars to create 33000 jobs in the United States. What about we fix our mess first?
